Top 5 Rock & Metal Releases July 29, 2022

This week I was very much anticipating the new release from Anberlin, one of my very favorite bands since high school, and it did not disappoint. I also forgot that the new Dance Gavin Dance album came out this week, which was a nice surprise. DGD fans have been through a lot over the last few months so it’s nice to enjoy the last work that bassist Tim Feerick (may he rest in peace) worked on. I also believe it’s important to note that this album is a piece of art made by several individuals and shouldn’t be condemned by the wrongful actions of just one (former) member of that party. If you haven’t heard, DGD’s vocalist Tillian Pearson has been let go from the band due to sexual assault allegations made against him. However, the rest of the band are shaken by these latest events and I still believe they are worthy of support in their musical business.

Then there were several other stellar releases that I found that were completely new to me. My list this week is smaller than the last few weeks, but what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. I’ll state again that I believe all of these albums and EPs are worth a listen, not just my personal picks for the top five. I put my name behind these releases and only recommend what I would personally listen to.
