Last week was a great week for the heavy/alt music scene. I’m constantly in awe with how much great music continues to constantly come out. There were only a couple releases I was anticipating, primarily Norma Jean followed by Arch Enemy, and they did not disappoint!
However, what really amazed me about last week was the amount of variety of musical genres incorporated. Of course there were the typical metalcore releases (some really quality ones, might I add) and we had some great death metal and deathcore records, but much of the music pulled from many other genres like R&B, pop, and rap. And don’t think I didn’t notice the Polyphia-esque guitar leads from Unprocessed or the Dance Gavin Dance vibes from Royal Coda! Just awesome. I love the creativity that the heavy music scene is experiencing. I hope it continues!
I’ve narrowed down my personal top five albums from last week, but they’re all worth listening to. I guarantee it. Dig in!

Again, my apologies for the tardiness of this post. I try my hardest to get these weekly posts up on Sundays, right after the Friday release day, but sometimes life gets in the way, especially life with an infant.
